From Tom: After I got caught stealing all the punctuation mark keys from a judge’s computer keyboard…I’m expecting a long sentence.  From Steve:

Music

From Doris:   Peace Like A River   1.       I've got peace like a river, I've got peace like a river, I've got peace like a river in my soul. I've got peace like a river, I've got peace like a river, I've got peace like a river in my soul. 2.       I've got love like a river, I've got love like a river, I've got love like a river in my soul. I've got love like a river, I've got love like a river, I've got love like a river in my soul 3.       3 I've got joy like a river, I've got joy like a river, I've got joy like a river in my soul. I've got joy like a river, I've got joy like a river, I've got joy like a river in my soul.

Did You Know?

From Doris:   Our family has walked 1,397.38 miles to Bristol. I put a decorative snowman outside my front door earlier this week. Yesterday Lachlan came to our house, brought the snowman inside, and insisted the snowman stay in the house. I have a bowl in which I display fabric snowmen I made years ago. Lachlan brought me the bowl and announced he had found a bowl of snowman heads. James enjoys playing peek a boo with us whenever we FaceTime with Tom. One of our favorite children’s books is  The Diggingest Dog.  We enjoyed reading it to Todd and Lachlan this week. Lachlan loved riding the St. Luke’s elevator.

Counting Blessings

From Doris:   I rang the bell in the chemotherapy infusion center on Friday which signified the end of my infusions. We were surrounded by family and friends. Kyle recorded the bell ringing to share with our extended family. I got some pictures of my CIC family.  2025 is over. Somehow that makes it easier to look forward to the end of my cancer treatments. I will be taking chemo pills all of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027, but it feels good to have my diagnosis year behind me. I wore the coat I purchased to wear in England. It kept me nice and warm during our walk outside. I also wore the scarf Britta knitted and the hat Jonathan and Britta brought back from Ireland. It is wonderful to be warm when we walk outside. I don’t think I realized what a difference a scarf would make. We purchased a coat rack.  For a heating pad that wraps around my thighs. We watched the funeral for Jeffrey R. Holland . The fireworks done in our neighborhood on New Year...

Grief

From Doris:   I am in a lot of pain today. When asked if my pain will diminish since my infusions are finished, my oncologist shrugged his shoulders and said, “We’ll find out.”

Tender Mercy

From Doris: My cancer infusions were completed on January 2, 2026.

Inspirational Quote

From Doris:   John A. McCune  December 9, 2025 BYU Devotional   We could look at it as if we are driving through life in a car with God guiding us. If we are parked, we can turn the steering wheel all we want, but the car will not go in any direction. If you are really trying to listen and to be a disciple of Christ, you are walking in the Spirit more than you may realize. And often you’ll recognize the hand of the Lord in your life as you look back and see the course you have taken. As you live as a disciple of Christ, God is watching over you, and if you are doing all you can to follow a righteous course, He will lead you along your path.

Scriptures

From Doris:   3 Nephi 15:9 Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life.

From Paul: Cycle 8 Week One This week begins Cycle 8, which includes the final infusion of Doris’ treatment regimen. Doris rang the bell. The plaque by the bell reads as follows:   It was really a wonderful experience to celebrate this milestone with all the healthcare professionals who have assisted Doris beginning on May 29, 2025. As I walked around both with and without Doris on Friday, January 2, 2026, I was feeling a little emotional because of the solid care and patient kindness of this care team. I remember the first infusion day when Doris had a significant reaction to the medication, and how quickly the team responded to her needs, including the chemo pharmacist. Both RN’s who were helping her that day were with us to celebrate. One of her providers was also on hand coincidentally during the bell ringing. We also had our son Andrew with us, our son Kyle and his family, and a very kind and devoted friend of Doris from our church. It was a great day, but this exper...
