Humor

From Tom: Why haven’t aliens visited our solar system? They checked the reviews and saw it only had 1 star   From Jonathan  I bought an old used car that was made in Prague. The Czech engine light keeps coming on.

Did you know?

From Doris: Our family has walked 1355.58 miles to Bristol. Even though the winter solstice was on December 21st, the sunrise in Eagle continues to be at 8:18 a.m. It will be 8:18 until January 9th. I am impatient for the sun to shine earlier in the morning. Tom’s family tied fleece blankets and gave them to us as Christmas gifts. Kyle helped Paul replace the toilet in our master bathroom. I have completed 38 English paper pieced flowers. When I finish my 40th one, I will post a picture. I finished making a spring themed wool door hanger.

Quotes

From Doris: Sheri Dew from the podcast Two Point Conversion “When I think about the Savior and His Atonement, I think of it as a doctrine of healing. He can heal our hearts when our hearts are broken. He can heal us when we know we’ve goofed up and we didn’t handle something as well as we think we could have or should have. Certainly, He can heal us from sin if we’ll repent. “And I don’t even know the words I would use to try to explain the constant ways in which I feel like the Savior and His Atonement have healed my heart, healed me of weakness, helped me deal with weakness or weaknesses…and nothing else that I know of can do that.”

Scripture

From Doris: Ether 12:27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Music

From Doris: Hark the Herald Angels Sing 1.       Hark! the herald angels sing         Glory to the newborn King!       Peace on earth and mercy mild,       God and sinners reconciled!      Joyful, all ye nations, rise;      Join the triumph of the skies;     With th’angelic host proclaim      Christ is born in Bethlehem!       Hark! the herald angels sing      Glory to the newborn King!   2.       Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Son of Righteousness! Light and life to all he brings, Ris’n with healing in his wings. Mild he lays his glory by, Born that man no more may die; Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth. Hark! the herald angels sing Glory to the newborn King!

Counting Blessings

From Doris: Christmas is a time when we celebrate our Savior Jesus Christ. I was able to spend time with all our children this week either virtually or in person. Scott, Andrew, and Kyle’s family were with us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  We got to enjoy Christmas through the eyes of a child (Lachlan.) My sister, Julie, completed a book of ancestor stories which I began a few years ago. She did not want me to have an unfinished dream. I was able to give this book to each of our children as a Christmas gift. I only have one more infusion. I have more stamina than I did a few weeks ago. I am hopeful that when I stop having infusions, I will get even stronger.  I was blessed by the life and teachings of Jeffrey R. Holland. Paul never complains about helping me.

Grief

From Doris: Today I know I need to eat something, but nothing sounds good. Do I risk eating something and have a negative reaction or go hungry and have stomach pain?

Tender Mercy

From Doris: Heavenly Father gave me the added strength I prayed for. I knew I would need it on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because we were hosts for the family gathering.

General Update

From Paul: Cycle 7 week 3 This week has been a week of commemoration and celebration of the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ. As I reflect on the many years that I have been aware of this celebration, I recognize its meaning deepens with each passing year. I find greater joy, witness and comfort in the music and messages shared by others with respect to the Savior of the world. We enjoyed Christmas with our family, both those who live nearby, and those who are distant through the means of electronic video conferencing. What a great blessing that has been in our lives, and in particularly during this Christmas season. Even in football. Kalani Sitake said of his graduating seniors after the BYU victory at the Pop-Tarts Bowl, “These guys are great spiritual men, and they have a testimony and a belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We get to celebrate Christ’s birth around this time. So I am really thankful that I get to be around faithful men, and these guys have taught me a l...
