Humor

From Scott: Someone is car shopping and the salesman is showing him all the features and he asks, "cargo space?" To which the salesman responds, "Car no go space, car no fly." From Tom: I ’ ve taken some sewing classes, to learn how to use our new sewing machine. I was worried I wouldn ’ t be any good. But so far it seams easy.

Inspirational Quote

From Doris: From my friend Rhonda When my sister was going through cancer she had a quote that she clung on to “ It ’ s not waiting for the storm to pass, it ’ s learning to dance in the rain.”

Music

From Doris: Music Come Unto Him

Scripture

From Doris: Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Counting Blessings

From Doris: We get to have sacrament meeting in our home each Sunday. We watch a zoom broadcast of our ward’s meeting, Our bishop has given Paul permission to administer the sacrament meeting in our home. Renewing my covenants by partaking of the sacrament in my home has become a deeply meaningful and sacred experience. After we watched the zoom broadcast, Paul played a “postlude” of the hymn “Come Ye Disconsolate” on our home organ.   It is one of my favorite hymns. This past week I did not have to go to St. Luke’s Cancer Center.   It was the first break I have had in six weeks! The oncologist kept me on a 200 mg dose of chemo pill #2.   My pain has been better managed this past week.   I am not pain free, but I can function around the pain.   What a blessing! Paul went on a walk with me four different days. Paul does most of the cooking now.   We plan menus together and I place the grocery order, but he does most of the meal prep and washes ...

Tender Mercy

From Doris: We went to the temple on Thursday!  It is getting harder for me to do, but the ordinance workers do everything they can to help me.

Grieving

From Doris: I can’t predict what I will be able to do each day. I simply listen to the cues my body gives me. Some days I spend most of the day resting.

Did you know?

From Doris Our family has walked 165.12 miles to Bristol.   I have sewn 24 English paper pieced flowers. When I complete 30, I will take another picture.   Small steps can still get you where you need to go.   We have cherry tomatoes in our garden.   Paul picked ten this afternoon and Lachlan ate all of them.   A female duck followed us when we walked the path behind our house.

General Update

From Paul: Cycle 4 – Modified (Continued) We continue our journey amidst discomfort and fatigue. We have a week off to get a needed break from the day-to-day sameness. As mentioned last week, Doris had her ramp-up paused on Oral Chemo #2 medication owing to her severe joint and muscle pain. That pause continues for this coming week as well. We are headed away for a few days. We will have different surroundings and places to visit. But our home will be host to painters who will be painting the interior of our home with vaulted ceilings. The painters will start on Monday but will finish up on Friday. We will leave on Monday and return on Thursday. When we return it will be to different looking walls and fresh paint! This journey is not a sprint, but rather a prolonged marathon, or perhaps more accurately, a trek through a wilderness where we have never been. The experience is a challenge, but looking down the long road, there are times when not being able to see the finish line pres...
