Humor

From Tom: I was having difficulty getting pages to load on my browser, so I called IT. They asked if I had tried disabling cookies. So I told him about the time I ate the legs off a gingerbread man.   From Paul: I can't take my dog to the pond anymore because the ducks keep attacking him. That's what I get for buying a pure bread dog.

Map Interpretations

Original Map From Kyle: Some sort of angry cat like creature with a crown? Maybe Prince John from Robin Hood? Original Map From Kyle:  A T-Rex that is having a hard time getting back up because his are are small. But he's still happy.

From Doris: Holy places 1.       The temple is a holy place Where heaven touches earth— A rev’rent place, a hallowed space, Where we do the Savior’s work. I’ll stand in holy places With a heart that’s firm and true, Until Christ returns and makes all the world Holy, clean, and new. 2.       A home can be a holy place To learn of God above— A prayerful place to seek His face, Where we grow in faith and love. I’ll stand in holy places With a heart that’s firm and true, Until Christ returns and makes all the world Holy, clean, and new. 3.       My heart can be a holy place When all around is dim— A peaceful place of hope and grace, Where the Spirit shines within. I’ll stand in holy places With a heart that’s firm and true, Until Christ returns and makes all the world Holy, clean, and new.

Did you know?

From Doris: Our family has walked 991.73 miles to Bristol. My niece auditioned for and was accepted as a member of the Tabernacle Choir. Two new stores, Nordstrom Rack and Barnes and Noble, opened in Meridian. A Chik Fil A is being built in Eagle. The orchid my friend gave me for my birthday in early October continues to thrive.  All we do is give it indirect sunlight and three ice cubes once a week.  We have some bonsai sprouts. One day Lachlan pulled one out of its container and brought it to me telling me he had pulled up a weed. Paul replanted the bonsai “weed” and it is still growing. Eating more protein has adversely affected my GI tract.  I am working to discover how much protein I can eat without getting stomach cramps.

Counting Blessings

From Doris: I am grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Many times, I lack wisdom in this cancer journey.  I know I am getting direction as I seek for it in prayer. I followed my oncologist’s direction and got a flu shot and a COVID shot.  As I expected, my arms became more sore, but they didn’t hurt as much as I expected they would. My Primary care physician asked me to meet with her to discuss the results of my CT scan. Her focus was on my overall health, not just my cancer.  She gave me a prescription for Celebrex which has helped lessen my pain without affecting my liver or kidneys. My friend DeeAnn brought me some flowers and chocolates and visited for a while.  Amy came two weeks ago when she could see our colorful leaves.  This week many of the trees are bare. We had a video chat with most of our children yesterday.  I love being able to see them all at the same time. Paul is patient with me and is a very kind caregiver. Thank...

Grieving

From Doris: I can’t take Tylenol for pain anymore because it has negatively affected my liver.

Tender Mercy

From Doris My primary care physician is also battling cancer. I had an appointment with her this week. Her insights and compassion made my journey easier.

Scripture

From Doris: Mosiah 24:15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.

Quote

From Doris:   Elder Michael Cziesla  October 2025 General Conference As we choose to follow His example and move forward with faith in Christ, embrace the power of His Atonement, and remember our covenants, love fills our hearts, hope and healing raise our spirits, and bitterness and sorrow are replaced by gratitude and the patience to wait for promised blessings.

General

From Paul: Sometimes you feel great, and other times, you feel challenged. Since I was young, I had a problem with the expression of “having a bad day”, because it seemed doing so was attaching blame for an inappropriate behavior or mood to a predetermined duration of time. This morning Doris was feeling uncomfortable such that we chose to watch the zoom broadcast of our sacrament meeting from home. Later during the day, she felt better. Then again, she had some discomfort later in the day, but the periods of time during which she felt good, or less comfortable, were seemingly taking turns. Her experience with her treatments and side effects are singular to her. Not only do I not have the same ups and downs, but from what we have been told by the medical professionals, each person in treatment experiences things differently. What can I learn from this experience? I am learning and having reinforced in my understanding that we experience ups and downs as a part of life. Taking t...
