From Jonathan: From Scott: Did you know that 90% of bald people still own a comb? Yep! They just can't part with it.

Counting Blessings

From Doris: My oncologist said my blood work this week was “amazing.” I do not have any more treatment changes scheduled.  My life should settle into a cancer treatment routine for the next 19 months. My grandniece completed her leukemia treatments and got to go home. She spent most of the last seven months in the hospital. I love living in Eagle where autumn is gorgeous. This time of year I sit on the couch in the front room in the mornings and rejoice over sunshine.  We went on four walks this week.  Each lasted at least twenty minutes.   Walking outside helps me feel Heavenly Father’s love. I have a little more energy than I did last week.

Music

Music From Doris: Because 1. Because He walked the path, I know the way. Because He calmed the storm, I’m not afraid. Because He made the lame to walk and caused the blind to see And blessed the children one by one, I feel His love for me. And I will praise forever The Savior of the world, And I will sing together With all the Saints on earth. Because He gave to me ev’rything He had to give, I breathe, I see, I hope, I love, I live. 2. Because He died for me, I’ll live again. Because He is my Friend, I’ll follow Him. Because He fills the world with light, I’m filled with hope and peace. And when He comes to earth again, I’ll kneel before His feet. And I will praise forever The Savior of the world, And I will sing together With all the Saints on earth. Because He gave to me ev’rything He had to give, I breathe, I see, I hope, I love, I live.

Inspirational Quote

From Doris: Dieter F. Uchtdorf  October 2025 General Conference   Faith in Jesus Christ is a gift, but receiving it is a conscious choice that requires a commitment of all our “might, mind and strength.” It is a practice of every day. Every hour. It takes constant learning and determined commitment. Our faith, which is our loyalty to the Savior, becomes stronger as it is tested against the opposition we face here in mortality. It endures because we keep nourishing it, we keep actively applying it, and we never give up.

Scripture

From Doris: John 14:27   Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Grieving

From Doris: Having cancer limits my ability to interact in person with friends and family.

Tender Mercy

From Doris: Friday was mostly pain free. It was likely a result of the steroid given me on Thursday as part of my infusion. My pain returned on Saturday.  However, to have a day almost free of pain was amazing. I felt hopeful.

Did you know?

From Doris: Ewan - our two-month old grandson, loves to watch our ceiling fan in motion. We have nicknamed it Sir Ceiling Fan.   I have completed 27 English paper pieced flowers. Our family has walked——miles to Bristol. We have made friends with another couple in the CIC. The husband has treatments on the same days I do. The cabinet in which I store the quilts I have made has been moved from the basement back to our family room.  Our neighbor and his son moved it for us. We have new kitchen blinds. Lachlan loves eating cherry tomatoes from our garden. I had about ten in a bowl and he ate them all. Enna and I finished reading the book  Remarkable  today.

General Update

From  Paul: Cycle Five (of 24) The beginning of Cycle Five represents a milestone of sorts. Each cycle is 28 days long. There are no further expected adjustments to Doris’ treatment. She is now at full dose for  two chemotherapy medications, which consist of a total of two 80 mg pills of Chemo Medication #1 morning and evening, and four 100 mg pills of Chemo Medication #2 around mid-day, in additional to a one-time infusion at the beginning of each cycle. Her oncologist/hematologist indicated that Tumor Lysis Syndrome is no longer a risk of her medication, and she can set aside the medication intended to suppress her body’s response to the treatment of Chemo Medication #2. I asked for a clarification of her treatment regimen because my research as a non-medical professional seemed to indicate that Doris’ treatment regimen would be used only after initial treatment of MCL failed. The oncologist shared with me that because her cancer is aggressive, the initial treatm...
