Inspirational quotes

From Doris: Kevin Worthen, former president of Brigham Young University   “We can’t comprehend how good He is and how much He loves us,” he said. “The more I turn to Him and the more I see people who turn to Him, the more convinced I am that we only see faintly how much He cares for us, how anxious He is to bless us.”

Counting Blessings

From Doris: My body adapted more easily to a bump from a 100 mg to a 200 mg dose of medication than I expected. My blood work this week was very good.  My numbers were almost all in normal ranges. The young women in our ward left us loving chalk art on our driveway.  Lachlan saw it the next day and was very excited by it.  He was sad when the rain washed most of it away. I was able to buy two blouses at Kohl’s which will make accessing my port easier. Craft Warehouse had a truckload fabric sale this week.  We drive past this store on our way to/from St. Luke’s. Since I went to St. Luke’s twice for blood draws, we shopped at Craft Warehouse twice. This week Kyle had a birthday.  It was fun to spend time with him and his family at a family dinner on Saturday. I learned about another perk for oncology patients.  I am able to consult with a dietitian to get guidance on managing side effects of chemo drugs by what I eat or don’t eat.  Go...

Grieving

Tender Mercy

Music

From Doris: Fill the World With Love | Tabernacle Choir   In the morning of my life I shall look to the sunrise. At a moment in my life when the world is new. And the blessing I shall ask is that God will grant me, To be brave and strong and true, And to fill the world with love my whole life through. (Chorus) And to fill the world with love And to fill the world with love And to fill the world with love my whole life through In the noontime of my life I shall look to the sunshine, At a moment in my life when the sky is blue. And the blessing I shall ask shall remain unchanging. To be brave and strong and true, And to fill the world with love my whole life through (Chorus) In the evening of my life I shall look to the sunset, At a moment in my life when the night is due. And the question I shall ask only God can answer. Was I brave and strong and true? Did I fill the world with love my whole life through? (Chorus)

Scripture

From Doris: Helaman 3:27 Thus we may see that the Lord is merciful unto all who will, in the sincerity of their hearts, call upon his holy name.

Did you know?

From Doris Foods that taste good while I eat them are not always good for me. I ate a delicious Mediterranean salad for dinner but thirty minutes later my stomach started cramping.   Our children are helping us “walk” from Eagle, Idaho to Bristol, England, a distance of 4,777.68 miles. They send us the number of miles they walk each week and we add them to a family progress chart.  Together we walked 85.32 miles the first week.

General Update

Cycle Three (Continued) From Paul: This week has been a blessing because Doris’ lab results on Thursday indicated she could continue with the ramp up of the Chemo #2 oral pill. At the beginning of the week she was at 100 mg per day. As of Thursday, she is taking 200 mg per day. The labs on Friday had no red flags, so the course continues. There will be one more uptick in medication levels for Chemo #2 oral pill to 400 mg starting on Thursday. That day also includes labs and a consultation with a provider before her infusion. It will be a long day, starting at 7:15 AM. She often feels more fatigued on infusion days. Even though her treatment is progressing and her labs look good, that does not mean the days are easy for her. She tires early and easily and often finds time to take a rest of duration between 30 and 45 minutes. I learned this week that outings that we do work better for her if we go in the morning. We will want to plan accordingly in the coming week. Doctrine ...
