Did you know?

Doris: Our raspberries need to be picked every two days. Lachlan can eat a bowlful of raspberries by himself. He uses both hands and shovels them into his mouth as quickly as he can. Butterflies do not eat plants after becoming butterflies. They subsist on nectar.

Music

Doris: Slow down | Sissel In the midst of my confusion In the time of desperate need When I am thinking not too clearly A gentle voice does intercede   Slow down, slow down, be still Be still and wait, on the Spirit of the Lord Slow down and hear His voice And know that He is God   In the time of tribulation When I'm feeling so unsure When things are pressing in about me Comes a gentle voice so still, so pure   Slow down, slow down, be still, my child Be still and wait, on the Spirit of the Lord Slow down and hear His voice And know that He is God And know that He is God

Humor

Tom: This week’s weather forecast includes rane, hale, gails, thundor, litening, and possible torenadoes. A bad spell of weather Matthew: They told me l'd never be good at poetry because I'm dyslexic.  But so far l've made 3 jugs and a vase and they're lovely.

Scripture

Doris: Alma 7:12 12  And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

Grieving

Doris: For some reason I have had intense knee pain this week. It has limited my mobility. I will have to take a break from my daily walks for a while.

Inspirational Quote

Doris: Inspirational quote Neal A. Maxwell Patient endurance permits us to cling to our faith in the Lord and our faith in His timing when we are being tossed about by the surf of circumstance. Even when a seeming undertow grasps us, somehow, in the tumbling, we are being carried forward, though battered and bruised.

Counting My Blessings

Doris: Counting my Blessings Lachlan came over on Paul’s birthday and ran up to me and gave me a great big hug. It filled my heart with joy. Thursday was Paul’s birthday and because I did not have an infusion this week, we were able to celebrate it.  We went to the temple together!  I was able to order gluten free chocolate cupcakes from Rachel Bowden for Paul’s birthday. They tasted better than any other gluten free chocolate baked desserts we’ve had. I learned at the wound clinic that my wound is not infected and the redness around it is simply inflammation.   When we changed the wound dressing on Friday, the wound looked much better than it did on Wednesday. Because I am still on treatment hold, I can take ibuprofen for pain. My back patio has become a place of refuge. Paul finished installing railings from our back door, down concrete steps to our back patio. Paul created a timber mat for me out of four 4 x 6 pressure treated timbers.  It ...

Tender Mercy

Doris: My oncologist stopped my treatments temporarily.  When I visited the wound clinic this week, the doctor who helped me said the cancer drugs would have kept my skin punch biopsy wound from healing.

General Update

From Paul: Cycle 3 soon? During my life experiences, I have had some musical training. I studied piano from the age of 9 through junior high and high school. That is about eight years except for approximately one year when I was between piano teachers. Then when I started up again, I studied both piano and organ. When I was a senior in high school I sang with the concert choir, for which I had to audition. In college I studied organ, including five years of private organ lessons and two semesters of organ specific classes – one on organ registration, and the second on hymns. With that in mind, it is no wonder that I find great comfort, peace, and spiritual strength from good music. Today was no exception. We attended our own church sacrament meeting as long as comfort would allow today. The opening hymn was not one that would normally be indicated by the time of day. Nevertheless, it is one of my favorites – Abide With Me, ‘tis Eventide. 1. Abide with me; ’tis eventide....
